Lot No: 52
Year Make Model Mileage SOLD FOR
1970 Triumph GT6 24,537 (Not Warranted) £8,500 + buyers premium

Description:

Description from The Vendor:

I bought this from a local Weymouth family who have owned it for over 40 years. It had been garaged unused for quite a while, and during lockdown their grandson made a start getting it ready for the road again. His priorities changed, and I took over.

In the last year or so it has had a lot of work (over £1200 in new parts alone).

It now starts, drives, and stops well, with good oil pressure, and has that awesome triumph straight six exhaust tone. It had new sills and a repaint over 20 years ago, and is still in pretty good rust-free condition. As usual with a classic there is always room for improvement. The paintwork is showing its age a bit. The gear linkage is a little slack, and although all gears engage fine if you are accurate with the stick, new bushes in the remote would doubtless improve things. The interior is original – there is a repair patch on the driver’s seat, and new front carpets wouldn’t go amiss.  The dash is nice, and all gauges, including the additional oil pressure and ammeter gauges, work.

The brakes have been overhauled, with refurbished master cylinder, numerous new brake pipes, new discs and calipers, new flexihoses, and new rear shoes and cylinders. The carbs have been rebuilt. The water pump, fuel pump, radiator hoses, heater valve and rear stainless exhaust are also new. Engine oil has been changed, and diff and gearbox topped up. The clutch slave is new and the master refurbished. She sits on her original steel wheels with Rostyle trims, and has four new Marshal tyres.

The history file includes the current and previous V5s, numerous invoices – mainly from Rimmer Bros and James Paddock ltd, original handbook and brochure, and a workshop manual.

Auctioneer’s notes:

UCX829H is a very presentable and usable Triumph GT6 Mark2 and she does benefit from overdrive.  The vendor has given a very honest and truthful description of her and I appreciate that.  So, there is not a lot I can add to it except to say “book your slot to view, strictly by appointment.”
