Description:

Description from The Vendor:

It is with heavy heart that I have to part company this gorgeous looking Triumph Stag Automatic finished in Triumph 19 White with contrasting Black interior.

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected change in personal circumstances I find myself in a position where I have pass the custodianship over to a new owner.

As with any vehicle over 40 years old this could in theory be driven on the public highway without the need for an annual MOT.

I am, for both my own peace of mind and new owners peace of mind offering this for sale with a brand new MOT until September 27, 2022.

There was the need for some remedial work to the underside of the vehicle, this has been carried out to a high standard by a well-known Triumph restorer. This involved the grafting in of new material that is zinc coated. This has then been seam sealed and undercoated to provide an extended life.

Whilst with the restorer other numerous jobs have been rectified including new o ring oil seals to the engine, new speedo cable, oil filter, new fuel pipe, fuel filler gasket, this work as well as the other work is fully documented and itemised with supporting invoice came to £1600.00 in September 2021.

The kickdown cable has recently been reset so it changes up and down with ease and the kickdown working as it should.

This year I have replaced such items as the sunvisors and new floor mats, a more important upgrade was the fitting of the twin choke weber carburettor in February 2021 at a cost of £800.00. A much needed and a worthy upgrade. I have without doubt noticed a smoother running and certainly an improvement in performance.

In December 2020, the car had a service at a cost of £742.00, this included another upgrade to an electronic ignition module. It goes without saying that service included changing of oils filters leads and plugs etc.

The brake servo was replaced in November2020 along with a clean MOT that was carried out on November 2020. This Stag was also tested in 2019, 2017,2015,2013, 2012, 2011 there was a gap then going back to 2006. It was during this off the road period that this Stag underwent considerable amount of work.

The number of recent tests indicate that this has not been stored off the road for any preceding years.

I do have various invoices totalling nearly £12,000.00 for other works carried out to this wonderful lady. These are from Stag Classics in Alton and Southern Triumph Services going back to 2011. These works include but not limited to the renovation of front seats, poly bushing and the fitting of a strengthened diff quill shaft.

The hardtop is in particularly good condition, its only fault is the nearside handle is absent, it is so heavy the other three locking handles will ensure it does not jump off and to be honest as soon as you get this home it will stay in the corner of the garage.

The soft top was replaced in 2016 and is still in good condition apart from one small perforation in the clear window about the size of a match head, other than that it stows away nicely.

The wheels have been recently refurbished to a high standard and as with the rest of the vehicle always gain comments. I do not have an invoice for this work, so I have not included this in the total above.

The chrome is again in very good condition and cleans up well.

The foams were replaced along with the front seat covers and still remain firm to the touch.

As seen in the photos of the rear you can see it does have a full stainless-steel exhaust which really accentuates the distinctive burble of the original Triumph V8 engine.

The heater works well as does the fan on both speeds, all the gauges work and even the cigar lighter works.

Both electric windows work fine as do the quarterlight windows.

This car will generate comments and interest wherever you go from young children asking “What is that car Mister” to older people complimenting you over its condition and asking over its history.

Supplied with additional keys, Stag owners handbook, and Triumph Stag Repair Operation Manual.

Auctioneer’s notes:

This is a very honest car and presents well and she has a small fortune spent on her.  See Appendix 1.  All the invoices are on file, including the handbook, and a Gov.UK. MOT history.  I like this car and she may be viewed, strictly by appointment.
