On the Surface: This is a striking example of a 1976 Triumph Stag, finished in Carmine red over a tan interior. The aesthetic appeal is further heightened by the presence of a detachable hardtop roof, complemented by a soft top roof in good condition. The Vendor has owned this example for an impressive 21 years.

Maintenance: Purchased by The Vendor in March 2003 from eBay as a mere rolling shell, this Stag underwent a complete transformation. A full bare metal respray was undertaken as was a total interior retrim. The clock was changed a short time ago to a new digitilised one, the combined mileage of these is 93,513, however, this cannot be warranted. The inclusion of an immobiliser was also a thoughtful addtion to the car.

History: Over the years, this Stag has been a recipient of consistent upkeep, evidenced by a collection of invoices totaling nearly £2,000. The history that accompanies the invoices feature what appears to be an original Triumph Stag Driver’s Handbook, a comprehensive parts catalogue, and a Stag Technical Reprints booklet.

The Model: The Triumph Stag was first introduced in June 1970 and was aimed at the luxury/convertible sportscar market rivalling the likes of the Mercedes-Benz R107. As standard the Stag came equipped with electric windows, power-assisted rack and pinion steering and servo-backed disc/drum brakes. Producing some 145bhp and 167lbft of torque on from its 2997cc V8 engine, the Stag was reputedly capable of 120mph+. The Triumph Stag was in production for 7 years with 25,877 cars being manufactured, however, just a mere 2,046 automatic models are registered to UK roads today.

Sale Insight: Having been the custodian of this car for 21 years now, The Vendor reluctantly parts ways with this Triumph Stag. The decision is due to underuse and the desire to open up some garage space.
