On the Surface: This is a 1980 Vauxhall Royale Coupe, also known as the Opel Monza. Registered to UK roads on January 1st, 1981, it boasts only three former keepers in its 43-year history. Maintenance & History: Not much is known about the history of this example, however, The Vendor tells us that he believes the car was restored around 10 years ago and was then put into covered storage as part of a private collection in Derby. Under the current owner’s custodianship for the last three years, it has seen recent maintenance including replacements of ball joint rubbers, exhaust, kickdown valve, fuel pump, and fuel lines. No documentation exists for these repairs due to them being carried out by The Vendor. The Model: Known in the rest of the world as the Opel Monza, it was marketed as the Vauxhall Royale Coupe in the UK, succeeding the Commodore Coupe. Production began in 1977 and ended in 1986 and now there are just 32 automatic Royale Coupes remaining on UK roads.
