Toyota Land Cruiser 1966 entered into the January 30th Classic Car Auction.
This is a fun MOT’d historic 1966 LHD Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 recently imported from California. She has a 237cu inch 3499cc straight six petrol engine, which burbles nicely out of the shortened twin exhaust; a 3 speed floor shift, with various modifications made before shipping to the UK – all UK taxes paid and UK registered. There are 2 good ‘leather’ adjustable seats with lap belts in the front, with a snug 2 seater forward facing bench seat in the back with no belts. She has a detachable tow bar.
Work done so far:
All brake shoes and cylinders have been replaced as new or with an after market kit and subsequently adjusted and rebled.
Remade rear brake lines.
All the spring hanger bushes and bolts have been replaced.
The front wheel bearings have been adjusted.
New mirrors
The exhaust bracket has been re-welded but the exhaust will need to be lengthened so it protrudes from the body.
A new driver’s window regulator has been fitted, so both windows now work smoothly.
The steering has been adjusted as much as possible.
The oils and filter has been changed, with replacement of all fluids and oils carried out.
The speedometer cable was replaced, but still needs replacement speedo as the combination panel doesn’t work – the fuel gauge and ammeter work, but not the other readings such as the odometer, mph scale, oil and water gauges. However, 2 additional gauges have been fitted for the oil pressure and temperature, which reads fine. There is shed loads of power, with 135HP originally stated, and 217lbs of torque from this nearly 50 year old vehicle. She feels pretty lively and like she could pull a house down. She will fair well in a good home where anyone who can look after her will be rewarded with a fantastic vehicle as is, with a world of possibilities needing a bit of TLC to make her as she should be. There are 4 replacement steel Land Cruiser wheels included in the sale and it is recommended by the vendor that these are fitted to the vehicle before it is driven some distance.
