A good example of the desirable early home market, CP-prefix Triumph TR6. This 1972 example is offered in attractive White over a Black leather interior and is fitted with a sought-after body-coloured Surrey Top. Owned by the current registered keeper for the last 11 years, it represents a well-kept example of Triumph’s most iconic roadster.
Recently recommissioned by Phoenix Classic Cars of Poole, the TR6 benefits from recent commissioning work. The car presents well and the Surrey Top enhances both aesthetics and usability.
Accompanying the car is a good history file including the original TR6 handbook, a quantity of invoices for work carried out over time, MOT certificates and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. The Heritage Certificate confirms this example as a genuine UK-market, right-hand-drive car.
The Triumph TR6 was introduced in 1969 and went on to become the best-selling TR of all time. Styled by Karmann, it featured bold, muscular lines and a robust chassis derived from the TR5. Early CP-prefix petrol-injected cars, such as this example, used the Lucas mechanical fuel-injection system and produced a lively 150 bhp, giving them notably stronger performance than later carburetted versions. With only 8,370 of the 91,850 TR6s produced sold in the UK, original home-market cars are particularly sought after today.
Early CP-prefix TR6s are widely regarded as the purist’s choice. This UK-market example with long-term ownership, recent recommissioning and good supporting history presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a British sports car ahead of the more sunny months.
