  • 1 former keeper
  • Supplied new to the UK in LHD
  • Genuine 41,541 miles from new

Auctioneer's Notes:

A well-travelled and well-kept example of the Fiat Barchetta. This 1997 example is presented in left-hand drive, as all Barchettas were from factory. It is also understood to have been UK supplied when new, before later spending time in Italy and returning to the UK under the care of The Vendor. The history file is particularly well organised, charting the car’s movement through Europe and back to the UK, while the car itself benefits from desirable features including power steering, electric windows and its original radio. Showing a warranted 41,541 miles, this is a great modern classic with a strong supporting file.

Maintenance & Condition:

The accompanying service invoices detail a substantial recommissioning undertaken in 2025, supported by photographs of the work carried out. Further invoices note new performance tyres fitted in 2021 and significant exhaust repairs completed in 2018. The original Fiat Aftercare handbook displays 10 stamps for services completed between 1998 at 3,769 miles and 2016 at 36,483 miles, supporting the car’s genuine current mileage of 41,541. The file also includes invoices for wind deflectors and covers for the soft top, along with some MOT history. Overall, the paperwork suggests a car that has been actively maintained and sympathetically enjoyed.

History:

This Barchetta is accompanied by an extensive and well-organised history file. Included are old registration documents and tax discs, an Italian registration document dated January 2014 recording registration in Italy in 2013, and HMRC import documentation dated January 2017. Also present are photographs of the vehicle shortly after re-importation in 2017, details relating to the purchase of the current private registration shortly after its arrival in the UK, and a written bill of sale between the former keeper and The Vendor, who was responsible for importing the car. The original Fiat bookpack is also included, encasing the Owner Handbook, Sound System guide, Service Directory and Fiat Aftercare handbook.

The Model:

The Fiat Barchetta was introduced as a stylish and accessible Italian roadster, designed by Andreas Zapatinas and produced exclusively in left-hand drive. Based on the Mk1 Fiat Punto platform, it combined front-wheel drive dependability with genuinely enjoyable handling and distinctive retro-inspired styling. Powered by a 1.8-litre 16-valve four-cylinder engine with variable camshaft timing, the Barchetta produced around 130bhp, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Performance was lively, with 0–62mph achieved in approximately 8.9 seconds and a top speed of around 124mph. Praised for its precise steering, responsive engine and playful character, the Barchetta remains a hugely appealing choice for those seeking an affordable and engaging Italian convertible.

Sale Insight:

The Fiat Barchetta has become an increasingly appreciated modern classic. This example stands out thanks to its well-documented travels, original Fiat bookpack, stamped service record, genuine low mileage and recent recommissioning work. An excellent opportunity for an enthusiast seeking something more distinctive than the usual 1990s roadster offerings.
