A charming and very usable example of the post-war Morris Eight Series E, finished in classic Black over Brown leather. This is an honest, nicely presented car that wears its age well, with just the right amount of patina to remind you of its 80-year history without detracting from its overall appeal.
The car presents in good overall condition, retaining an attractively aged appearance that suits a pre-war design carried into the immediate post-war period. The bodywork, trim and interior all show signs of careful preservation rather than over-restoration, giving it a genuine, time-honoured feel. The Brown leather interior complements the exterior well and contributes to the car’s charm.
Owned by The Vendor’s late father for the past 13 years and only recently transferred into The Vendor’s name, this Morris Eight has clearly been part of a cherished private ownership story. The car shows five former keepers on record. Unfortunately, no history file accompanies the vehicle, but its long-term family ownership and well-kept presentation speak to sympathetic stewardship.
The Morris Eight was introduced in 1935 as a small family car designed to compete directly with the hugely popular Ford Model Y. It proved immensely successful and played a key role in restoring Morris Motors to its position as Britain’s largest car manufacturer. The Series E, announced in October 1938, brought a significant restyle with its distinctive “waterfall” grille, headlights mounted in the wings and the removal of running boards. Although longer, wider and heavier than earlier versions, it sat on a slightly shorter wheelbase, giving it a more modern and purposeful stance. Production continued through to 1948, making the Series E a familiar sight in Britain’s immediate post-war years.
With it's attractive patina, appealing colour combination and long-term family ownership, this 1946 Morris Eight Series E represents a lovely entry point into pre- and post-war motoring.
