Auctioneer’s Notes:

A tidy and well-kept example of the Mk I Triumph 2000, finished in elegant Dolphin Grey over a Blue leather interior — a wonderfully period colour combination that suits Michelotti’s styling perfectly. Owned by The Vendor for the past 16 years, this car has clearly been cherished long-term and represents an honest, usable classic British executive saloon.

Maintenance & Condition:

Presented in smart order throughout, the car offers a pleasing balance of originality and careful upkeep. The interior remains particularly appealing, with the blue leather complementing the exterior beautifully. As a well-maintained example that has benefitted from long-term ownership, it stands as a very usable and enjoyable classic.

History:

Accompanying the vehicle is a superb and comprehensive history file, adding greatly to its provenance and appeal. Included are MOT certificates dating back to 1974, a charming period Motor Fuel Ration booklet, a wealth of invoices, old tax discs, and an original green logbook. Further supporting documentation includes the Triumph Servicing Schedules handbook, Triumph 2000 Owner’s Handbook, and even an original Triumph 2000 sales brochure.

The Model:

Produced in Coventry by the Triumph Motor Company between 1963 and 1977, the Triumph 2000 was introduced on 15 October 1963 and styled by renowned Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. As a refined, rear-wheel-drive executive saloon, it competed directly with the Rover P6 2000, which launched just a week later. The Mk I Triumph 2000, built from 1963 to 1969, saw total production of 120,645 units.

Sale Insight:

Early Mk I Triumph 2000s are increasingly appreciated for their clean styling, smooth six-cylinder engines and practical usability. With 16 years of continuous ownership and an outstanding history file stretching back over five decades, this example offers both character and credibility.
