In Brief:

  • A tidy example of the VERY rare Austin Six Westminster
  • Finished in two-tone Black and Green over a matching Green leather interior
  • Owned by the current keeper for the past 16 years
  • 1 of just 50 examples produced - just 5 known to still be in existence
  • One of the most collectible pre war Austins

On the Surface:

A tidy example of the exceedingly rare 1933 Austin Six Westminster Saloon, this car is finished in a two-tone scheme of Black and Green, complemented by a matching Green leather interior. This Westminster is one of only five known survivors from a limited production run of just 50 cars. Unlike the more common Austin 16/6 which features three side windows, the Westminster 'Sport Saloon' design features only two which differentiates it from it's more common sibling.

Maintenance & History:

Having been in the hands of the current registered keeper for the past 16 years, and with just three former keepers in total, this example has clearly been cherished. It is offered in well-kept condition cosmetically, however, it is currently non running due to spending the last 4 years laid up as part of a private collection and therfore it is believed that the fuel pump has stopped working. MOT certificates and other documents included in the history file attest to its continued maintenance and roadworthiness over the years. The accompanying history file is rich with period and model-specific documentation, including the original buff log book, an Austin Spare Parts List Book, a copy of an Austin 16 brochure page and an issue of The Autocar magazine dated October 1933, showcasing the following year’s models. Additional paperwork includes historic MOT certificates and various pieces of Austin literature, offering a well-rounded insight into the car’s provenance and the marque's legacy.

The Model:

The Austin Six Westminster Saloon was a premium model within Austin’s range, built in extremely limited numbers. Only 50 were produced in 1933, distinguished by their streamlined two-window design — a notable departure from the standard 16/6 layout. Designed for comfort, performance and understated luxury, the Westminster stands as one of the most collectible pre-war Austins today.

Sale Insight:

This rare Westminster Saloon is being offered separately alongside a 1930s Thomson Caravan (see Lot 86), presenting a unique opportunity for the buyer to acquire a period-correct motoring duo. Together, they make an ideal ensemble for classic shows, rallies, or events such as the Goodwood Revival. With just five known examples of this model still in existence and supported by an excellent history file, this is a truly special opportunity for the pre-war enthusiast or serious collector.
