A tidy example of a Marlin Roadster kit car finished in the ever-popular British Racing Green over a smart Black interior. Registered in 1974, the car’s build took place sometime after 1979, using a blend of Triumph GT6 and Triumph Vitesse components. With no wet weather gear, it has only ever been enjoyed in the dry, preserving its condition.
This Marlin comes with a comprehensive history file that includes original Marlin assembly instructions, a handful of invoices, wiring diagrams and a complete parts list detailing all components required to build a Marlin. The combination of Triumph GT6 and Vitesse running gear, particularly the lively two-litre inline-six from the latter, makes this example engaging and fun to drive.
Marlin Engineering was founded in 1979 in Plymouth by Paul Moorhouse, who turned his one-off sports car creations into production kits. The Roadster, their first and longest-running model, was based around Triumph Herald range components, including Spitfire, Herald, Vitesse, and GT6 parts. Its aluminium and glass-fibre bodywork, paired with a radiator grille reminiscent of pre-war Alfa Romeo sports cars, gave it vintage flair with modern reliability. Fitted with Triumph’s 2.0-litre inline-six, as in this example, the Roadster could reach 110 mph — impressive for a kit car of the era.
Offered due to The Vendor’s acquisition of another classic car at our Summer sale, this delightful Marlin Roadster is offered for sale as a well-kept, characterful British kit car. With its attractive colour combination, spirited performance and good documentation, it’s ready for a new custodian to enjoy on sunny days and classic events.
