A charming and increasingly scarce example of a HA generation Vauxhall Viva in SL trim. Finished in Pale Blue with a Dark Blue coachline and a Dark Blue interior, this example is presented with an exceptionally comprehensive and highly original history file. This delightful 1960s saloon offers a rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented example of Vauxhall’s popular compact model, complete with period features and a fascinating paper trail that charts much of its life.
The history file contains a range of invoices evidencing maintenance and upkeep over the years, including works carried out to the braking system and other general servicing. The car also benefits from a period sunroof installation by Jack Kent Limited Sunshine Roof Specialists, supported by both an invoice and original brochure from 1980.
An outstanding and highly detailed history file accompanies the vehicle. Highlights include the original Vehicles Excise Act registration book, original bill of sale showing first purchase in 1966 for £595.10, and the original service record displaying stamps from 1967 at 1,000 miles through to 1977 at 24,569 miles (noting one additional unstamped slip). Also included are original MOT certificates and tax discs, original owner’s handbook, car care cards and an illustrated car servicing book.
Introduced in 1963, the Vauxhall Viva HA was designed to compete in the growing small family car market, offering economical motoring with a touch of American-inspired styling. The SL variant stood apart from base models with a more elaborate front grille and typically a painted side strip, enhancing its visual appeal. At the rear, the SL featured a distinctive horizontal arrangement of three round Lucas lamps per side - contrasting with the base model’s unique tail lamp design and reminiscent of styling cues seen on contemporary Singer Gazelle models.
This 1966 Vauxhall Viva HA SL 90 stands out as a particularly collectible example. Ideal for enthusiasts who value originality and provenance.
