This 1957 Matchless G3LS is a very tidy example, finished in black. This motorcycle presents well and has been carefully maintained overtime with only seven owners in its 68-year history.
Accompanying the bike is a substantial history file, including a photocopy of a Matchless Maintenance Manual and Instruction Book, as well as a Matchless spares list. The history file also contains MOT certificates spanning from 1994 to 2011, £1,000 worth of invoices, and various documents that provide insight into its past, including photocopies of previous logbooks.
The G3L was announced by Associated Motor Cycles with its post-war range of AJS and Matchless heavyweight singles in June 1945. Built on the foundations of the wartime G3L, the G3LS was equipped with a 350cc overhead-valve engine featuring a 93mm stroke and 69mm bore. The early models were housed in a rigid frame with Teledraulic front forks, but by 1949, hairpin valve springs were adopted, and a more advanced swinging-arm frame was introduced to improve ride comfort and handling.
This well-presented G3LS, complete with an extensive history file and documentation, offers an excellent opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to get their hands on a very tidy example of a post war Associated Motor Cycles example.
