A fascinating and entirely individual Jaguar-based special, designed and hand-built by an experienced classic car restorer as a one-off project. Based around 1970s Jaguar XJ6 mechanical components, the car features striking two-door coupé styling, a T-bar roof and a completely bespoke appearance. The Vendor advises that the bodywork was hand formed, including aluminium panels, before being professionally painted in metallic blue. The finished design carries its own JRG badging and bears little resemblance to the donor Jaguar from which its mechanical basis was derived.

Maintenance & Condition:

The vehicle remains unfinished and unregistered and should be regarded as a project requiring further inspection and completion. It has never undergone an MOT, IVA or other Government inspection to establish its suitability for use on the public highway. The extent of any mechanical, structural or electrical work still required is unknown and prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves accordingly.

The photographs show Jaguar-derived straight-six mechanicals, a manual gearbox and a largely bespoke cabin. There has been significant water ingress into the interior, with associated damp and mould evident, and these areas will require attention. The dashboard, trim and electrical installation also display the hand-built nature of the project and should be carefully checked before recommissioning.

History:

The car is understood to have been conceived and constructed by its later owner/builder, an experienced classic car restorer, using a combination of Jaguar components and a chassis believed to originate from an unidentified kit-car application. The two-door body and interior were created specifically for this vehicle, making it effectively a unique one-of-one build.

It is supplied with an old-style V5 registration document believed to relate to the Jaguar donor vehicle, registration XYD 100M. Importantly, the completed special itself has never been registered, and the accompanying documentation should therefore not be taken as confirmation of the identity or registration entitlement of the finished vehicle.

The Model:

Rather than being a recognised production kit, this is best described as an individually constructed Jaguar-based special. Its proportions combine a long bonnet, compact two-seat-style cabin and shortened coupé profile, while Jaguar influences remain apparent beneath the skin through the engine, instruments and other mechanical components.

The bespoke body incorporates a T-bar roof and squared-off styling characteristic of the period in which it was conceived. Its unusual construction, JRG badging and hand-built detailing make it a particularly distinctive example of private specialist car construction.

An intriguing opportunity for someone seeking an unusual restoration or engineering project rather than a conventional road-ready classic.
