A practical and collectible variantion of Volvo’s 240 Estate, this 1993 240 Torslanda represents the final chapter of one of the most respected estate cars ever produced. Finished in Black and Red over a cloth interior, it offers honest usability combined with the appeal of a limited-edition run-out model. Purchased by The Vendor in November 2025, the car is only being offered for sale due to a change in employment requiring regular travel into central London.
This Torslanda has clearly been maintained for use rather than storage. The previous owner relied on the car day to day, and it remains in regular running condition today. Recently, work has been carried out to the front suspension, including the fitment of a new brake setup, with the red brake pack visible. The car is supplied with a generous selection of spares and accessories, including spare Torslanda wheels, a roof rack, replacement headliner, rear brake back plates, fresh oil and filter, a magnetic sump plug with gasket, and the original rear load cover — a particularly desirable and often missing item. MOT is valid until October 2026.
The history file includes the original Volvo bookpacks, a Volvo 240 Series Haynes manual, and the original purchase invoice confirming delivery from Volvo main dealer William A. Lewis in 1993 at a cost of £11,434.21. Accompanying this is a substantial collection of invoices covering parts, servicing and maintenance, along with numerous MOT certificates. The bookpacks retain the 1991 Volvo Dealer Guide and Owner’s Manual.
The Volvo 240 Torslanda was a special, limited-edition “run-out” model introduced to mark the end of 240 production. Named after Volvo’s main Torslanda factory in Sweden, it was designed with durability and real-world usability in mind. Features such as plastic exterior trim in place of rust-prone chrome, distinctive body striping, and practical cold-climate equipment made it especially well suited to harsh Scandinavian conditions. As the final evolution of the legendary 240, the Torslanda has become one of the most desirable variants among enthusiasts.
Late-production Volvo 240 Estates, particularly special editions with strong history files, continue to grow in popularity. This example offers a long MOT, excellent documentation, useful spares and accessories and the honest charm of a car that has been properly used and cared for. An ideal opportunity for anyone seeking a usable classic with genuine character, practicality and rarity.
