This 1985 Reliant Scimitar SS1 presents as a usable and increasingly rare example of Michelotti’s angular two-seat sports car. Maintenance & History:

Acquired by The Vendor as a project, the Scimitar has benefitted from some TLC their ownership. While little in the way of documentary history accompanies the car, the registration is live on DVLA records and the vehicle is offered with its V5C. Notable works include a full cylinder head overhaul with valves replaced, both door sills renewed, and the rear outrigger repaired. A replacement headlight lift motor has been fitted, both seats reinstated, and a convertible top added. Further attention has seen the horn repaired and repositioned to the centre of the steering wheel, and the header tank cap replaced. Collectively, these improvements return the car to a sound and roadworthy state, with scope for further cosmetic refinement by its next custodian.

The Model:

Reliant launched the Scimitar SS1 in 1984 as an affordable British sports car aimed at rekindling the success of earlier Scimitar models. Styled by Giovanni Michelotti, the SS1 featured a galvanised steel chassis with fibreglass body panels, combining lightness with durability. Power came from Ford’s CVH engine range, offering lively performance in a car weighing under a tonne.
