Auctioneer's Notes:

A great example of the celebrated E92-generation BMW M3—the first and only series-production M3 to feature a naturally aspirated V8 engine. Finished in white over a striking red leather interior, this desirable six-speed manual example has been owned by the vendor for the past two years and has covered a genuine 88,694 miles from new. The appropriately evocative private registration number ‘M3 MVC’ is included in the sale.

Maintenance & Condition:

This M3 is accompanied by its original BMW leather-bound book pack, containing the Owner’s Handbook, 2007/08 Service Directory and Service Booklet. The Service Booklet contains 10 stamps and four handwritten entries documenting servicing carried out between 2008, at 1,202 miles, and 2024, at 83,464 miles. A collection of invoices relating to parts, servicing and maintenance totals approximately £4,500, while a number of historic MOT certificates are also included. Of particular note is an invoice from 2019 for £1,999, detailing the replacement of the connecting-rod bearings and bolts, together with a full service, inspection and replacement engine mounts. Prospective purchasers should note that the vehicle was recorded as a Category N insurance loss in September 2019.

The Model:

The E9x was the first—and remains the only—standard-production generation of the BMW M3 to be powered by a V8 engine, with its successor returning to a straight-six configuration. At its heart is BMW’s naturally aspirated 4.0-litre S65 V8, producing 414 bhp at 8,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 3,900 rpm. In six-speed manual form, the coupé was capable of accelerating from 0–62 mph in a claimed 4.8 seconds. Of the 40,092 E92 M3 coupés produced worldwide, approximately 37% were equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox, as fitted to this car. The model received exceptional praise from the motoring press, being described variously as “the greatest all-around car in the world”, “the finest car on the market, period” and “the best, most complete car in the world”.

Sale Insight:

Combining a naturally aspirated V8 with a six-speed manual gearbox, this E92 M3 offers one of the most engaging configurations of BMW’s acclaimed modern performance coupé. Its white exterior, contrasting red leather cabin and included ‘M3 MVC’ registration further distinguish the car. This represents an appealing opportunity to acquire an increasingly sought-after modern M car.
