This beautiful 1960 Morris Minor 1000 Series III , finished in its original Porcelain Green is a charming 4-door example that features a cloth interior. The car retains its original character while benefitting from tasteful restorative work, including new metal wings and a full respray in 2015.
This car has enjoyed long-term ownership, having had just three keepers from new. The first owner kept the vehicle from 1960 until 1981, followed by the second from 1981 to 1989 and The Vendor has cherished the car for the past 36 years. Mechanically well-maintained, this Morris Minor received a reconditioned 948cc engine and new clutch in 2018, with an invoice on file from KAR Engine Services Ltd totalling £1,020. In 2015, maintenance included a recored radiator, the addition of front seat belts and a complete overhaul of the front braking system (including drums, shoes, cylinders, and pipes). The history file contains various other invoices, with maintenance costs amounting to nearly £3,500.
Introduced in 1956, the Series III marked a significant evolution for the Morris Minor, becoming known as the 'Minor 1000' with the adoption of the 948cc BMC A-Series engine. Designed to meet the demands of a changing motoring landscape, including the rise of motorway driving, the updated engine boosted top speed to 75 mph and improved 0–60 mph times dramatically. The gearbox was also substantially revised, enhancing drivability and making the Minor a practical and afforable choice for the introduction of the motorway era.
A well-preserved example of the iconic Morris Minor 1000, this car is offered with a solid history and long-term enthusiast ownership with recent maintenance.
