This 1989 BMW K100 RTIC has been tastefully reimagined as a café racer, offering a streamlined stance while retaining the engineering of the original. The machine now boasts a distinctive custom look, highlighted by chrome detailing and a polished fuel tank, bringing a fresh aesthetic to BMW’s iconic “flying brick” platform.
Originally delivered as a fully-faired K100 RTIC touring motorcycle, this machine has since undergone a transformation into a café racer. In 2017, significant work was carried out including the replacement of the output shaft, final drive and alternator, along with the fitting of a new seat. At the same time, the engine was comprehensively rebuilt.
Launched in the 1980s, BMW’s K100 series broke new ground with its innovative liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine laid on its side, earning the nickname “flying brick.” Renowned for reliability and smooth power delivery, the K100 became a popular base for customisers seeking a solid, adaptable platform—its RTIC touring version adding long-distance practicality before many found new life as café racers and specials.
Combining the proven engineering of BMW’s K-series with a bespoke café racer aesthetic, this example offers buyers a chance to enjoy the best of both worlds.
