On the Surface:

A lovely example of Jaguar’s elegant grand tourer, this 1989 XJS V12 HE is finished in Carnival Red over a Cream leather interior. The cabin, previously restored and retrimmed, presents very well with rich wood veneer. It rides on newer Pirelli P600 tyres and retains the distinctive “Starfish” alloy wheels that came in with the HE era’s styling.

Maintenance & History:

Originally supplied new by H.A. Fox Jaguar of Guildford, the car has had just three former keepers and has been in the care of The Vendor for the past year. It is accompanied by an assortment of invoices for maintenance and servicing, an original XJS sales brochure and the original Jaguar bookpack containing the car's handbooks and Service Record & Warranty booklet — the latter displaying twelve service stamps from 1989 (at 880 miles) through to 2024 (at 78,911 miles). The current mileage of 80,026 is verified by both service and MOT history. Recently subject to thorough recommissioning and corrosion protection work, this example benefits from a host of recent mechanical attention including new fuel lines, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, brake discs and pads and more.

The Model:

Introduced in July 1981, the XJ-S HE (High Efficiency) marked a step forward in Jaguar’s grand touring lineage. The adoption of the “Fire Ball” combustion chamber, designed by Swiss engineer Michael May, delivered improved fuel economy while increasing power to 295 bhp. Cosmetic refinements included body-coloured rear trim, new five-spoke alloy wheels, chrome bumper inserts and burled elm veneers throughout the interior.
