The Model:

The Ford Lotus Cortina Mk II stands as one of the most iconic performance saloons of the 1960s, born from the collaboration between Ford and Lotus under the direction of Colin Chapman. Introduced in 1967 as the successor to the Mk I, the Mk II was based on Ford’s second-generation Cortina platform. At its core lies the legendary 1.6-litre Lotus Twin-Cam engine, developed from the Ford Kent block and producing around 105–110 bhp. Paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox, it delivered brisk performance for the era, with 0–60 mph achievable in approximately 9-10 seconds. While slightly less radical than the Mk I - doing away with some of its more complex features in favour of improved durability - the Mk II proved equally capable in competition. It continued the Lotus Cortina’s formidable motorsport legacy, competing successfully in touring car championships across Europe, and was driven by legendary figures such as Jim Clark and Jacky Ickx.
