Auctioneer's Notes:

A well-presented 1988 Mercedes-Benz 190E Auto, representing the W201 generation that established Mercedes-Benz in the compact executive market. Accompanied by a strong history file and benefiting from considerable recent expenditure, this example offers the reassuring build quality and understated styling for which the 190E remains highly regarded.

Maintenance & Condition:

The Vendor reports that more than £2,500 has been spent on parts during the last 12 months, including replacement suspension components to both the front and rear. A full service was carried out approximately 1,000 miles ago, with all fluids and filters reportedly changed. The timing chain was also replaced in May 2026. A substantial collection of invoices further documents ongoing maintenance and expenditure. MOT valid until July 2027.

History:

The accompanying maintenance booklet contains 19 used service vouchers, together with two additional stamps recording brake fluid changes. The file also includes the owner's manual, service directories and club directory, supported by a substantial selection of invoices.

The Model:

Introduced as Mercedes-Benz's compact executive saloon, the W201 190E quickly earned a reputation for exceptional engineering, durability and refinement. Its sophisticated five-link independent rear suspension, solid construction and restrained Bruno Sacco styling made it one of the defining Mercedes models of the 1980s. In automatic form, the 190E is particularly well suited to relaxed touring and everyday use.

Sale Insight:

With extensive documented maintenance, significant recent mechanical expenditure and an MOT through to July 2027, this 190E presents as a well-supported example of an increasingly collectible modern-classic Mercedes-Benz. The comprehensive maintenance booklet and recent suspension, servicing and timing-chain work are particularly worthwhile features.
