Auctioneer’s Notes:

A superb example of the desirable Series III E-Type, this 1973 V12 2+2 presents beautifully in its original Pale Primrose Yellow over Biscuit leather. A left-hand-drive 2+2 FHC supplied new to the USA and imported into the UK in 2016, it has been enjoyed by its current owner for the last four years. With strong provenance, extensive recent expenditure and in great condition, this is a standout V12 Jaguar ready for continued enjoyment.

Maintenance & Condition:

This E-Type has benefitted from significant mechanical and cosmetic investment in recent years. In 2022/23 it received major works including new Dunlop SP Sport Radials, temperature sender, fan switch, full service (fluids, filters, plugs), new ignition components (leads, rotor arm, distributor cap), new rear lights, horn, thermostat, gearbox sump gasket, tuned carburettors, choke cable, fuel hose, fuse box and washer pump—totalling £6,542.24. A further £952.18 was spent in April 2025 to refine running performance. It has also been fitted with a new torque converter and a complete carpet set this year. Overall, it presents as a well-maintained and mechanically sorted example.

History:

Accompanied by an excellent history file, this Jaguar includes invoices and receipts totalling around £17,000, evidencing diligent upkeep and continuous improvement. The file also contains a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirming its original specification and build details. Since arriving in the UK, the car has had just four owners.

The Model:

Introduced in 1971, the Series III E-Type brought Jaguar’s new 5.3-litre V12 engine to the legendary model line, paired with uprated brakes and standard power steering. Available only as a convertible or 2+2 coupé, the Series III offered greater comfort and space, combined with impressive performance courtesy of its four Zenith carburettors and a claimed 272 bhp. The broadened track, flared arches and distinctive cross-slatted grille made it instantly recognisable. Of the 15,287 Series III E-Types produced, just 7,297 were 2+2 coupés like this example.

Sale Insight:

With its original colour combination, substantial recent investment, desirable V12 powertrain and comprehensive history file, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-sorted and striking Series III 2+2.
