This 1973 Triumph Stag is a highly usable example of the desirable manual variant, finished in Mimosa Yellow with a contrasting Black soft top and Black leather interior. While there is room for some TLC, it remains presentable and as always it is enhanced by a distintive V8 burble which in this example is amplified by a high-flow stainless steel exhaust system — which sounds superb.
Owned by The Vendor for the past 11 years, this Stag has enjoyed many memorable journeys, including tours across France and Ireland. It comes with a substantial and appealing history file, including a photographic record of the restoration, a Triumph Stag Haynes Manual, a collection of invoices, old magazines/newspaper clippings and the original Triumph 'Passport to Service' booklet. The Passport contains 8 service stamps, documenting maintenance from 1,190 miles in 1973 to 34,509 miles in 1975. Restored approximately 10 years ago, the Stag has seen regular use by its current owner until about two years ago. Since then, it has been carefully stored in dry conditions.
The Triumph Stag was launched in 1970 as a luxury sports tourer to rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz's 'SL'. Styled by Giovanni Michelotti and powered by Triumph’s own 3.0L V8 engine, it was offered with both manual and automatic transmissions — with the manual now the more desirable option among collectors. Its T-bar convertible design, ample seating and unique V8 note continue to make it a favourite of classic car enthusiasts.
This Mimosa Yellow Stag represents a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking a usable classic with scope for gentle improvement. Whether for weekend drives or touring, it offers an eye-cathcing platform with potential.
