A good example of the distinctive Spartan Ford kit car, this 1984 2+2 Roadster is finished in an appealing two-tone combination of Cream and Blue, set off by a Black leather interior. The styling nods to 1930s motoring with an open-top and some period styling. Though the car presents well overall, there remains scope for improvement under the care of its next owner, making it an ideal candidate for light recommissioning or enhancement.
This Roadster has been in the care of its current owner for the past 11 years and comes with a good history file. Included are a collection of old tax discs, previous MOTs, a Spartan Owner's Club window sticker, and a range of service-related invoices — a valuable insight into the car’s life and upkeep. Mechanically, this Spartan is based on the Ford Cortina Mk III-V platform and is powered by a 1600cc Ford crossflow engine. The vehicle comes with a wealth of historical maintenance documents including old MOT certificates and numerous invoices.
Spartan Cars operated from 1973 to 1995, producing over 4,000 kits, many of which were exported globally. The Mk II version, introduced in 1980, featured a bespoke in-house chassis designed around Ford Cortina components after Triumph donors became less accessible. This longer, wider platform improved handling and practicality, while retaining the car’s vintage charm. The 2+2 configuration offered additional seating or luggage space, increasing usability.
Offered now as a lightly patinated, characterful example with documented provenance, this Spartan Ford 2+2 Roadster would make a rewarding light project or summer classic for an enthusiast.
