This 1991 Lotus Elan SE Turbo is a great example of the final generation Elan, finished in Calypso Red with a contrasting Black soft top. Inside, it features a stylish Grey leather interior complemented by Red and Black accenting. With only 69,051 genuine miles from new, the car presents very well.
This example has had 5 former keepers and has been in the hands of the current registered keeper for the past 3 years. It also comes with multiple issues of the 'Club Lotus' magazine, evidencing enthusiast ownership and a strong connection to the marque. Accompanied by a large and detailed history file, this Elan has clearly been cherished. The file includes numerous past MOT certificates dating back to 1996, a comprehensive selection of invoices and the original Lotus Owner’s Handbook. The handbook displays 13 service stamps covering the car’s early life, with services recorded from 6,166 miles in 1991 up to 61,244 miles in 2001. Since then, the car has covered just under 8,000 miles over the last 24 years.
Launched in August 1989, the M100 Lotus Elan marked the revival of the iconic Elan nameplate after a 14-year hiatus. Unlike its rear-wheel drive predecessor, the M100 featured a front-wheel drive layout, powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre DOHC inline-four engine sourced from Isuzu, delivering 165 BHP through a 5-speed manual gearbox which was also sourced from Isuzu. Developed under General Motors ownership, it boasted a fibreglass composite body over a steel backbone chassis – a signature Lotus approach to performance through lightweight engineering. The SE Turbo is capable of 0–60 mph in just 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 136 mph.
A well-preserved and highly original example of the innovative M100 Elan SE Turbo, this car offers a compelling opportunity to purchase a car with excellent value and investment potential in the modern-classic market.
