A tidy and well-presented example of a Model 99 Norton Dominator, often affectionately known as the ‘Dommie’. Finished in classic Black with chrome accents and a Black seat, this example presents as an honest classic British motorcycle. With just three former keepers, it represents an appealing opportunity for enthusiasts seeking a straightforward and recognisable Norton twin.
The motorcycle presents neatly overall, with paintwork, brightwork and trim all in keeping with a well-cared-for classic. While no documented history accompanies the bike, it appears to be in tidy condition.
This example shows just three former keepers on record. Unfortunately, there is no history file or supporting paperwork present, making this a undocumented but honest example offered on its visual merit and known specification alone.
Introduced in September 1955, the Norton Model 99 Dominator was the larger-capacity sibling to the Model 88, utilising the celebrated featherbed frame. Powered by a 597cc parallel-twin engine producing around 31 bhp, the Model 99 benefitted from a higher compression ratio made possible by the alloy cylinder head introduced the year prior. Improvements also included full-width alloy hubs with enhanced braking.
The Model 99 remains one of Norton’s most desirable post-war motorcycles. This tidy, lightly-owned example offers an accessible entry into classic British motorcycling.
