In Brief:

  • An original example of Series III Morris Minor Traveller
  • Finished in Almond Green over a Green & White interior
  • Owned by The Vendor for the last 13 years
  • Just 2 former keepers
  • Accompanied by a great history file

Auctioneer’s Notes:

An increasingly hard-to-find, original example of the 1961 Morris Minor Traveller, finished in the delightful Almond Green over a Green & White interior. A genuine Series III car with just two former keepers, this Traveller has been owned by the vendor for the last 13 years and is now offered for sale as part of an Executors sale. Retaining a wonderfully authentic feel, it presents as an honest and largely original example requiring sympathetic TLC to bring it back to its very best.

Maintenance & Condition:

The car presents in original condition throughout, offering an excellent basis for recommissioning or light restoration. The ash wood frame — integral to the Traveller’s character — is in good condition, a significant positive for any prospective purchaser. Having not been used since 2016, the vehicle will require recommissioning prior to regular road use.

History:

Accompanied by a comprehensive history file, this Traveller benefits from numerous invoices and a run of old MOT certificates dating back to 1995, helping to document its long-term use and care. Particularly pleasing is the inclusion of an original BMC ‘Passport to Service’ and the Morris Minor Maintenance Service Voucher Book. With only two former keepers and 13 years in current ownership, this is a car that has clearly been enjoyed and retained.

The Model:

Introduced in 1953, the Morris Minor Traveller became one of Britain’s most recognisable and beloved post-war cars. Distinguished by its external ash wood framing and practical estate layout, the Traveller combined everyday usability with unmistakable character. Produced until 1971 as part of the Series II and later Minor 1000 range, it was powered by the dependable A-Series engine in 948cc or 1,098cc form. With over 215,000 Travellers built between 1953 and 1971, the model remains a cornerstone of the British classic car scene.

Sale Insight:

Original, low-keeper Travellers are increasingly sought after, particularly those retaining period documentation and authentic specification. This example offers a rare opportunity to acquire an honest, largely untouched Series III car with excellent provenance and a sound wood frame — ideal for careful recommissioning or restoration.
