An honest and appealing example of Rover’s much-loved P4 100, 68 HAU presents with a charmingly original feel throughout. Finished in duotone Light Grey over Dove Grey, the exterior pairs beautifully with a retrimmed Red interior, offering a tasteful contrast that accentuates the model’s understated luxury. Retaining a period-correct aesthetic, this P4 displays well as a useable and characterful classic.
Supplied new by Truman and Company Limited of Nottingham on 15th March 1960, 68 HAU is a RHD Home Market example. While the V5C records one former keeper, it is noted that the vehicle spent some time overseas before returning to the UK. The car is accompanied by a BMIHT certificate, original buff log book, assorted invoices, old MOT certificates and a Rover P4 instruction manual, all adding to its appeal and provenance. The car has been in the care of its current keeper for the past three years, during which time it has been enjoyed and well looked after. The file includes a selection of assorted invoices and old MOT certificates dating back to 1987.
The Rover P4 series was produced between 1949 and 1964. Designed by Gordon Bashford, the P4 range included several evolutions, culminating in the Rover 100, introduced in October 1959. Powered by a 2.6-litre IOE straight-six derived from the P5 3-litre unit, the 100 offered improved performance — capable of reaching 100 mph.
An attractive, largely original P4 100 with desirable provenance and charming presentation. 68 HAU offers an excellent opportunity for any collector or enthusiast seeking a characterful example of one of Rover’s post-war saloons.
