Auctioneer’s Notes:

A fantastic example of the eye-catching and raucous TVR Tuscan Speed Six, finished in highly desirable ‘Swordfish’ specification Chameleon Blue with a matching hide interior. Owned by The Vendor for the last 10 years and showing just 10,762 miles since its engine rebuild in 2007, this is a particularly special Tuscan with a fascinating story behind it.

Understood to have been one of a small number of Tuscans used in the film Swordfish, this car is also said to have later been used by Sony in connection with the creation and promotion of the TVR Tuscan for the Gran Turismo video game. The Vendor’s accompanying letter explains that this car was one of the intact examples used for filming when a pristine Tuscan was required, with its distinctive blue and green colour combination helping to support its connection to the production.

Maintenance & Condition:

This Tuscan is accompanied by an extensive history file, including old tax discs, MOT certificates and invoices for servicing and maintenance amounting to almost £25,000. Its long-term ownership, low mileage since rebuild and substantial supporting paperwork make it a very appealing example for any TVR enthusiast.

The Vendor notes that the Speed Six engine was completely rebuilt by TVR Power in 2007, at which point the speedometer was reset. Previous MOT history, when considered alongside the current odometer reading, suggests the car has covered approximately 30,000 miles in total, which remains a fantastically low figure given the age, performance and story of the vehicle.

History:

The history of this particular Tuscan is what sets it apart. The Vendor’s letter details its connection to Swordfish, stating that while the most famous car from the film is remembered as the bullet-holed example seen regularly on screen, this car is understood to have been one of the intact cars used when a pristine Tuscan was required.

The car is also said to have been used by Sony to wire-frame and create the TVR Tuscan for Gran Turismo, as well as for promotional use around the launch of the game. The Vendor states that he has emails which corroborate this part of the car’s story and that he personally owned the car during this period.

The Model:

The TVR Tuscan Speed Six is a British sports car manufactured by TVR from 1999 to 2006, with the name paying homage to the original Tuscan first introduced in 1967. The modern Tuscan Speed Six was launched at the end of the 1990s and quickly became one of the most dramatic and recognisable British performance cars of its era.

Powered by TVR’s 4.0-litre Speed Six engine, early examples were rated at around 360 bhp, delivering electrifying performance in a lightweight, front-engined, rear-wheel-drive package. With a 0–60 mph time of approximately 4.0 seconds, a quoted top speed in the region of 190 mph and a kerb weight of just under 1,100kg, the Tuscan offered truly serious performance wrapped in unmistakably flamboyant styling.

Sale Insight:

Low-mileage TVR Tuscans are already highly desirable, but this example adds genuine intrigue with its Swordfish film connection, Gran Turismo association, Chameleon Blue specification, matching hide interior, long-term ownership and extensive history file.

For collectors, enthusiasts or anyone seeking one of the most visually arresting British performance cars of the early 2000s, this Tuscan represents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly distinctive example with a story that goes well beyond its already impressive performance credentials.
